Ebola Panic Hits New York Airport

By Susan Duclos

With the US scrambling to calm fears of the deadly Ebola virus hitting the shores of the US with the first "imported" patient Thomas Duncan dying in Dallas, Texas, by offering up a token act of so-called protection by initiating screenings at only five airports in the US,  we see that safety and protection issues which have long been complained about by those that clean airplane cabins and bathrooms, have come to a head, as reported by WSJ.

Marching outside of Terminal D, the workers walked out Wednesday night around 10 p.m., organizers said. The demonstration is being organized by 32BJ Service Employees International Union, which the workers voted to join earlier this year.

Organizers said the protest is part of a long-running fight for better working conditions that had been brought to the forefront by the Ebola scare. The workers, who clean garbage and human waste from the planes, say they are not given adequate protection.

As has been widely reported, the US has not banned flights from Ebola infected countries like Sierra Leone, Guinea or Liberia, where Ebola has killed thousands, and as evidenced by Mr. Duncan's arrival in the US carrying the deadly virus, airport screenings are not effective, especially if the Ebloa infected victim is not symptomatic. This makes the refusal to restrict travel from those countries irresponsible at best, incompetent at worst, and pours fuel on the fire of accusations and theories that the Ebola spread throughout the globe is intentional and part of an agenda.

The first video below discusses this strike among airline cleaners and the second is a reminder from a CNN reporter, who returned from Liberia and was "horrified" and "shocked" by the lack of screenings and safety measures.
