With many states preparing to cut off the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments starting in November, due to the Schumer government shutdown, we are starting to see threats online, which indicate we may soon see actual food riots across America if the government is not reopened, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
In a letter to state agencies dated Oct. 10, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said there will not be enough funding to pay the entirety of November SNAP benefits if the shutdown continues.
"If the current lapse in appropriations continues, there will be insufficient funds to pay full November SNAP benefits for approximately 42 million individuals across the Nation," reads the letter, which was signed by SNAP development director Sasha Gersten-Paal and provided to USA TODAY by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS).
As a quick aside before continuing: There are people on disability, or Social Security, and very low income, despite working full time jobs, that simply need a little help, who are harmed by the able-bodied, meaning capable of working but do not, "welfare" queens and kings that game the system by popping out children every year just so they can receive money
Those that legitimately need a little help will suffer greatly from losing SNAP benefits, while the others that game the system, are the ones that that are online threatening dire consequences if they lose SNAP benefits.
The mindset is is described by the woman below in a social media video post, and her prediction of what is about to happen if the Schumer shutdown continues.
ONLINE THREATS.....
While the woman above is making a prediction, there are others who are blatantly threatening violence and theft if they lose their SNAP benefits.
Serious language warning on the video below.
Another woman claiming people will find out when threatening a 'black peoples' food stamps.
There are compilation videos embedded at the bottom of this article, showing these threats of violence and food rioting are not the exception to the rule, but the actual plan by some to steal, loot and become violent if they do not receive their food stamps.
It is worth noting that many people were already outraged that SNAP benefits, especially for those able-bodied and capable of working but refuse to get a job, were cut recently to better provide for those in actual need, rather than those that think collecting government benefits is some type of career.
An article at WITN, a local North Carolina outlet, titled "‘People will resort to violence’: ENC SNAP users comment on uncertainty," reports the following:
Approximately 35,000 families across Pitt, Onslow, and Craven Counties are at risk of not receiving benefits. Onslow County distributed $3 million in benefits in September alone.
Recipients expressed concern about the potential impact on their communities.
“People are going to resort to violence and stealing because how are they going to survive without feeding their families?” said Deashia Hawkins, who uses SNAP benefits.
Frances Bizzell says her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren use SNAP benefits. She agrees that this could spark a rise in crime.
“I mean, they’ve got to take care of their kids, what do you think? They can’t let their kids starve. I wouldn’t either,” she said.
Emphasis mine.
I used that specific article to show that abuse of the SNAP program goes back generations, where entire families, living separately, basically grew up using and abusing the system rather than working.
Again, welfare benefits were created and have always been meant to help those in actual need. The disabled, those on Social Security, people that have unexpectedly lost their jobs and that cannot afford their rent/mortgage, utilities and proper meals.
Back in June 2025, a woman who bragged in online TikTok videos about lying to get food stamps, and learned the meaning of FAFO (F**k Around and Find Out).
She portrayed how she acted on the phone with the woman who helped, pretending to cry and explain her perceived situation. She admitted that she lied about submitting job applications and not getting call-backs.
It led to her receiving a card with $1,000 with additional $300 monthly payments.
"B****, you don't gotta tell everybody the motherf******* truth," she said in the video.
However, last week, she posted multiple videos explaining that she had been caught and that authorities likely found out due to her initial video from last month.
She said she received a call from authorities stating that the assistance was being discontinued. It was followed by police showing up at her door and taking her to jail for fraud charges.
According to court documents, Talia C. Teneyuque, 32, used her Bridge Card, Michigan’s version of the EBT food assistance program, to purchase food items she used to bake and sell treats through Facebook from January 2022 to September 2023. The government claims these actions violate the Food Stamp Act of 1977, which prohibits the use of food stamps for business or resale purposes. Authorities say Teneyuque made several thousand dollars from the sales.
Many in the black community think the woman is being charged too severely, but it makes a good example of why those using welfare programs need to understand what is a legal use of benefits, and the laws surrounding those benefits.
S.E. Gunn made an excellent point in a piece this morning, saying "I highly recommend upping your prep storage foods as well as obtaining fresh groceries before the end of the month. Come November 1, 2025, SNAP runs out of funding and we know what happens when those who are receiving 'government assistance' get cut off from those funds . . . Check your cupboards and fill the empty spots before the end of the month!" Gunn provided survival food links in that piece, found here.
PROTECT YOURSELF WHEN SHOPPING....
Most Americans go grocery shopping, while some get their groceries delivered. It is absolutely critical that those that physically go to a grocery store, be prepared to protect themselves and their groceries on their way back to load said groceries into their vehicle.
Suggestions: Go grocery shopping with friends, in the daytime. Make your food shopping the last thing on your to-do list for the day, so your vehicle with food inside is not left unattended and ripe for those looking to steal.
