More UK Cars To Hit US Streets Soon, Law Firms File Another Lawsuit, And Federal Register Still Isn't Processing Trump's Presidential Actions In A Timely Manner
This EO first establishes an annual tariff-rate quota of 7.5% for the first 100,000 imported automobiles from the UK in addition to the usual 2.5% for a total of a 10% tariff on UK autos. After the first 100,000 autos imported, then the tariff will revert to the customary amount as identified in the March 26, 2025 Proclamation 10908. The 25% tariff for auto parts from the UK will be reduced to 10% provided they are for autos produced in the UK and that the parts are produced in the UK. These changes take place 7 days AFTER the Federal Register gets around to officially publishing the EO (see the section below about the Federal Register).
Next up are aircraft. The tariffs placed on imported UK civil aircraft in EO 14257, Proclamation 9704, and Proclamation 9705 (with their amendments) are removed 7 days AFTER the Federal Register publishes this EO are removed.
Finally, this EO addresses Aluminum and Steel articles & derivatives that are products of the UK. The Secretary of Commerce is tasked to establish a tariff-rate quota for these articles & derivatives in coordination with the US Trade Representative as appropriate.
I wondered what cars are actually produced in Great Britain. Turns out there are 35 models along with 10 vans. The Ariel Atom is, apparently, "one of the most hardcore sports cars you can buy." And the employees at the Federal Register don't seem to be doing their job in a timely manner. These documents are sent to them in electronic format, so no one needs to digitize them. So, the office of the Federal Register is now delaying the implementation of the President's orders. Since when is that allowed, Secretary Rubio?

There are 3 cases in the tracker from California/Governor Newsom. In CA v Trump, the Preliminary Injunction was granted concerning the release of voter info to DOGE. In Newsom v Trumpthe Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) was appealed. This opened a new case Newsom v Trumpin the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals who then granted a TRO reversing the decision in the previous case, granting Trump the ability to nationalize the CA National Guard on June 12, 2025. I am still waiting for Newsom to appeal this to SCOTUS.
I looked for a video clip that was non-biased about this lawsuit and could not find one. So this one is the least egregious, although the 'reporter' does make for an excellent argument for law firms (and fake media) being biased against the Trump Administration in particular and the MAGA, "the right", conservatives, Republicans, etc. in general.
